The Center asked that red postcards be mailed to Senators and Congressmen and the White House. The text of the postcard.
headed "Let Our Brother, Jonathan Pollard, Go" reads in part: "His life sentence in solitary confinement 23 hours a day underground in the worst maximum security federal prison in the U.S. constitutes "cruel and unusual punishment," for a nonviolent act. He has more than paid his debt to society for helping the Holy Land to defend itself against the huge arsenals of nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons designed for its extermination."

the primary, but the Repub-lican-controlled state Senate re-drew the borders of his district last year in a way that would make a November victory for any Democrat far less likely. "It would not be an entirely rational adventure" said Maidenberg, an attorney and a former mayor of Marion. There had been rumors he might run for attorney general, but Maidenberg said he has never considered doing so, despite the urgings of some friends last June after the second of two special legislative sessions.
