Bertha Bauer, 88, taken by death Bertha Bauer, 88, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, in St. Vincent Hospital. Mrs. Bauer was a member of United Orthodox Hebrew Congregation and Golden Age Club. Bom in Austria, she came to Indianapolis in 1941. She was a sales clerk for Kraft Baking Co. from 194165, when she retired. She was the widow of Norbert Bauer. Services were Thursday in Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Meridian Hills Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity. Survivors include sisters Eva Pauker, Pauline Weiner and brother Moische Bauer.

Elliott Freed, 56, whose Army acquaintanceship with Melvin Simon led to him becoming the first nonfamily executive in the top management cf Melvin Simon & Associates, was eulogized Sunday, March 1, in services in Park Avenue Synagogue, Manhattan, New York City. Aaron-Ruben-NelsonMer-idian Hills Mortuary participated in the arrangements. Mr. Freed died Thursday night in St. Vincent Hospital, of an apparent heart attack he had suffered while playing tennis. Mr. Freed joined the Simon organization in 1964. He was a senior vice president at his death. A graduate of City College of New York, he earned bachelor's and master's degrees there in business administration in 1951 and 1959. Mr. Freed was a lecturer at the New York University School of Continuing Education Real Estate Conference, a faculty member of the International Council of

Shopping Centers and a lecturer for the masters program in real estate at Columbia University. He was a member of the Indianapolis Athletic Club. He was born in New York City and spent much time there, but kept a residence in Indianapolis more than 23 years. His wife and family maintained their residence in New York City. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Arthritis Foundation. Survivors are his wife, Ruth Kirschner Freed; son, Jeffrey Freed, and daughter, Jacqueline Freed Simon.
