FLASH! I like this! Every time I overdraw my checking account, the president of the bank comes to my home and takes his "calendar” back! (I lose more dates that way!) FLASH! If you were watching the President’s motorcade (coming for a quickie speech here last week) there was a familiar face that was driving one of those cars, with FBI all around! It was our own Gary Miller, a great guy, and it was an honor too! Ask him about it! FLASH! Anniversary greetings to Dr. Martin and Edith Garfield, and it’s a pleasure to say “It’s their 45th anniversary!” The charming Helen Engleberg is still on cloud 9 as her children invited over 30 girlfriends to a lovely birthday party. “Happy Birthday” Mom! Understand it was a scrumptious luncheon! FLASH! Would you call “diapers” a “changeable” seat cover? FLASH! Morrie Gold and lovely wife, Sally, don’t have any problem remembering birthday dates, as they were both bom on Xmas day — and of course were married (many years later) on New Years day! Happy birthdays and happy anniver(Continued On Next Page) The Value Of Ownership

(Continued From Page IN 4) seum curators and art dealers as well as businesses and zealous individuals who have established reputatioas as patrons of contemporary art Their ultimate interest is assembling a eolleetion and usually one lhai has investment potential. The value ol a business' art eolleetion can be earned in its financial statement as an asset Acceptable donations ol art to a museum could offer a very useful lax deduction. The professional collector is aware lhal il a work ot art has greatly appreciated in value 1 , a donation is made at I he current market value, not its cost Therelore. it is more advantageous lor the professional collector to donate any work ol art rather than sell it. The corporate eolleetor relates to a broader purpose. The corporate collection is one means ol establishing a corporate identity. Today in Indianapolis. this comes not at a moment too soon Active support of corporations has proven essential tor the survival ol contemporary visual ail Corporations have learned that

its contemporary art acquisitions increase their visibility and value Many corporations are seeking the guidance ol the contemporary art dealer and not leaving the art choices to the uninformed mtei ior designer whose primary tjusmess is furnishings. More than often the wise corporate collector works hand-in-hand with the contenqiorary art dealer know mg the financial savings towards purchases w ill lie greater if he does not go through the interior designer mark up More than often the interior designer's art information comes second-hand straight Irom the art dealer The association between the dealer and collector is a delicate and interesting relationship. Once the Collector has selected a knowledgeable dealer. they can enjoy together the authority and mystery that signals real art. Often the aura of contemporary art dealers reflects the quality and aspirations of their artists. They are often talkers who put their own money "where their mouth is.”
