Daniel Gray Bar AAitzvah t
Saturday In Jerusalem
Daniel Gray, son of Rabbi and Mrs. Ronald Gray, celebrated his Bar Mitzvah in Jerusalem during the Hanuk kah holiday. The Gray family is spending a sabbatical in Israel. On Thursday evening, Dec. 1, Rabbi and Mrs. Gray hosted a dinner at a Jerusalem catering hall. Among the guests were scores of people who represent the “Indy-Jerusalem Connection.” The Israeli teachers who were on the staff of the Hebrew Academy, the many Hoosiers who are studying in Israel, and those who have made aliyah from Indianapolis and are now living in Israel joined in sharing thesimeha. On Friday morning, Daniel was called to the Torah at the Western Wall as his entire
present class joined with him to celebrate. After the services at the Wall, Daniel and his classmates enjoyed singing, dancing, pizza and ice cream at a nearby cafe in the newly developed Cardo in the restored Jewish Quarter of the Old City. On Saturday morning, the Grays celebrated Daniel’s Bar Mitzvah at the local synagogue where the family attends services. The Grays are currently living in the Baszit Vezan section of Jerusalem. Since most family and friends were not able - to be at the Bar Mitzvah, Rabbi and Mrs. Gray are planning to mark the first anniversary of the Bar Mitzvah with a special celebration after they return to Indianapolis.
