TEEN SCENE By The YME Staff Miss Eva B. Cohen Becomes
Bride Of Richard Coopersmith
This week, Indianapolis lost (at least temporarily) two important personages, Kathy Weiner of this city and Isaac Lipin of Israel. Kathy will be living in England with her father for six months. There she will attend a boarding school and get ahead in her education. Isaac who has stayed with the Saltzmans for the past six months as an exchange student, returned to his native Israel. Isaac had a party given for him at the Home of Mitch Tuchman before his leaving. In the past weeks, the BBYO, Temple Teens (OVFTY), and N . C . S . Y . conventions have already been discussed. The only other event of this sort happening in this past week is the U.S.Y. national convention in Boston, Massachusetts. The convention began on December 25 and continued until December 28. Those attending from Indianapolis are: Sara Offengender, Louis Star, Steve Goldman, and Steve Happaport. Their advisors, Mrs. Liebschutz and Mrs. Gray will also be attending. An event in which U.S.Y. will be involved is the Southern Area Kinnus to be held in
Cincinnati from February 10-13. At the Jewish Community Center on almost every Monday night one sees in the gymnasium quite an assortment of Basketball enthusiasts. This is the high school league coordinated by Jeff Vesseley, the J.C.C. athletic director. The youth organizations involved are: A.Z.A. 520, A.Z.A. 246, P . O . K . , N.C.S.Y, Swank, U.S.Y., and the J.C.C. Independents. Swank, JCC Independents, and U.S.Y. presently hold perfect records. The standings are (as of Dec. 18th) Swank (3-0), U.S.Y. (2-0), JCC Independents (2-0), P.O.K.I (1-2), A.Z.A. 520 (1-2), P.O.KII (0-2), A.Z.A. 246-N.C.S.Y. (03). The season will continue on through January. Everyone is invited to spectate. The long awaited youth community newspaper is almost ready for mailing. The Ind i a n a p o 1 i s Jewish Youth, sponsored by the F.J.Y.O., will be mailed to all Jewish youths in the city and to various other people. Rochelle Sharpe is the editor-in-chief. The paper will contain community news, an editorial page including a Letters to the Editor column,
an editorial page organizational news, national news, and a calendar of events. A.Z.A. 520 held a MoviePizza party open to BBYO members and guests on Saturday night December 30th at the home of Moe Nahmias. The picture is supposed to be some form of Dracula horror. Teen of the Week: The Teen of the Week this week is none other than Esther Bronicki. She has many accomplishments which entitle her to this honor. She is the chairman of the Education Unit of the F.J.Y.O. and the coordinator of the Youth Kallah. Further she is the president of N.C.S.Y. in Indianapolis.
