CENTRAL HEBREW WOMEN OPEN AT DINNER TUESDAY
The Central Hebrew congregation sisterhood will start its new season with a dinner at the synagog at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27. Chairmen Mmes. L. Finegold and B. Bremen will be in charge of the meal's preparation. They will be assisted by Mmes. A. Kraus, J. Shapiro, S. Nahmias, and J. Bunes. Mmes. E. Herman, A. Sachs, H. Stein, and D. Abraham are in charge of table setting. Mmes. H. Berman, J. Epstein, I. Marcus, Hy Bearman, S. Megeff, H. Goldfarb, L. Goldstein, and J. Rabin are on the serving committee. Price of the dinner is $1.50. Members and friends are invited. OPENING PRAYER will be given by Mrs. G. Snyder; closing prayer, by Mrs. W. Zohn. Mrs. P. Hirsch, program chairman, is planning games, with prizes, to follow the meeting. New officers are president, Mrs. S. Levinsky; president at large, Mrs. N. SEPHARDIC CONGREGATION PLANS PRE-DAWN PRAYERS
The Etz Chaim Sephardic congregation will hold its annual pre-dawn selihot or penitential prayers at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25. Rabbi Elias Levi will lead in the chanting of the traditional prayers of supplication. At 8 a.m., after shaharit or morning prayers, a congregational memorial service will be held at the Sephardic cemetery. Kol Nidre services will begin at 6:30 p.m. Rabbi Levi will officiate and preach on "Tincture of Time." Behor Farash will be assistant cantor. Yom Kippud morning services will start at 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26. Rabbi Levi will officiate and cantillate the Torah. He will preach on "The Realm of Kedushah." Supplementary services in English and explanations at the beginning of each phase will be held to guide the worshippers. Young people will participate. Minha or afternoon services will begin at 3:30 p.m.; neila or
concluding services, at 5:30 p. Rabbi Levi’s theme will "How Can We Be Accepted God’s Grace and Favor?"
