Irving Brenman Elected Chairman: Groups Appoint Representatives
COMMUNITY CENTER ASSOCIATION TO ELECT OFFICERS TUESDAY. AUG. 22 Carl Lyman, president of the Jewish Community Center Association, a Red Feather Agency, announced today that election of officers for the coming year will fake place at 8 p. m. Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the Center. Dick Perk Ranner-Up In Stale Golf Meet Dick Perk, Broadmoor Golf champion, won runner-up honors in the Indiana Golf Association’s 50th championship event at Highland last week end. Perk, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Perk, lost to Bob Myers of the Country Club 1 up in the final match that went the full 36-hole route.

All who had a hand in this achievement deserve warmest commendation from leaders in other sections of the nation.” The officers are headed by Irving I. Brenman, chairman of the Gary B’nai B’rith Lodge APL Committee, who served as President Pro-Tern during the past months. Mr. Brenman is also an
IJCRC Board member.

GENE ENGEL TREASURER The treasurer is Gene Engel, an IJCRC Board member, and Mrs. Albert Diness, a member at large, was elected secretary. Each adult Jewish organization is permitted to designate two representatives to the Gary Board, and nine are elected from the community at large for the first year, with three of these to lie elected annually thereafter. In addition, all IJCRC Board members previously designated by the Gary Jewish community or by either the American Jewish Committee or Anti-Defama-tion League from Gary, were elected Associated Board Members for a one-year period. Henceforth Gary representatives to the IJCRC Board will be named by the Gary JCRC, except for national Board designees, who may be appointed by any member agency of the National Community Relations Advisory Council. Council of Jewish Women Conduct Membership Drive The Indianapolis Section of the National Council of Jewish Women are in the midst of a two-week membership drive launched on Wednesday, July 12, at a luncheon in the home of Mi’s. Lewis Levy, chairman of the membership committee. The first report meeting was held on Wednesday, July 19, Mrs. Victor Goldberg, co-chairman of

Ki-Wa-Ca Day Camp Plans Carnival July 21
Ki-Wa-Ca Day Camp, operated by the Jewish Community Center Association, is planning an allcamp Camp Ki-Wa-Ca carnival on Friday, July 21 at George Washington park, 30th and Dearborn
Also assisting in the drive are Streets, from 1 - 3 p.m.
The campers are planning games and contests of fun. Each group will present a skit and there will also be refreshments. Parents and friends are invited to
attend the Carnival.

The Service to Foreign Born Committee sponsored an institute for displaced persons nowliving in Indianapolis, teaching them Eng'ish, budgeting, diatetics, and cooking. They helped them to furnish their homes and assisted them in obtaining jobs. In addition the group continued their other regular work.
Than ksgiving Dance The Beth-El Men’s Club and Sisterhood jointly announced this week plans to sponsor a Thanksgiving Dunce and Show to be held Thursday night, Nov. 23. Sain Weinberger is chairman for the Men’s Club and Ann Schwartz will serve as chairman for the Sisterhood.
Indiana B'nai B'rith to Sponsor Four-Day Institute Over Labor Day
B’nai B’rith in Indiana will launch its first annual four-day institute over Labor Day week-end. Announcement to this effect was- made by Rabbi Albert Yanow, Hillel Director at Indiana University,, who has be^n named chairman of the institute committee. The four-day institute which is open to all Jewish men in the state will feature two prominent Jewish scholars. The institute will be held on the campus at Bloomington, and part of the program will include
recreational activities, and several cultural presentations. The institute will be limited to fifty men. Rabbi Yanow announced. Theme of the four-day discussions will be “The Jewish Past and Its Meaning for Today.” The Indiana effort is part of a nation-wide program adopted by the Supreme Lodge of B’nai B’rith at its last convention. Rabbi Yanow' said that local committees in each
Indiana city will be announced shortly. On the basis of the successful institutes held by the North Carolina B’nai B’rith State Association at Wildacres, Rabbi Yanow is convinced that this type of adult Jewish education should have inestimable value for the Jewish community of Indiana.
