Alta Zeigler Married April 16 In Columbus, O. .Special MUNCIE—Mr. and Mrs. Max Zeigler of Muncie, Ind., announce the marriage of their daughter, Alta, to Mr. Arthur Sobel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Sobel, of Madison, N. J. The marriage was solemnized by Rabbi Nathan Zellizer, in Columbus, Ohio, Thursday, April 16. Mrs. Sobel attended Northwestern University and is a graduate of Ohio State University. Mr. Sobel is a senior in the College of Dentistry at Ohio State and is a member of Apha Omega, national professional dental fraternity. The couple will reside in Columbus, Ohio.
Evelyn Gooman Married To Peter Smolar Special GARY—Mr. and Mrs. I. Goodman, announce the marriage of their daughter, Evelyn, to Peter Smolar, of Milwaukee, Wis., Thursday, April 16, at their home. Rabbi Julius Siegel officiated Miss Laura Goodman attended the bride. A dinner followed the ceremony. The new Smolars left for a honeymoon and will make their home in Gary upon their return.
Miss Mildred Kraft left Thursday for a ten-day vacation to Baltimore, Md.
STATE BIRTHS FI. Wayne A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lowenhar, 4202 Buell Drive. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Novitsky of East Berry street.
Hammond Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Siegel announce the birth of a son on April 16 at St. Margaret’s Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Maurey Zlotnik are the parents of a daughter, born at St. Margaret’s Hospital on April 11.
Bichur Cholem, the Hebrew Ladies Aid Society, re-elected the following officers at a recent election: Mrs. David Rosenberg, president; Mrs. Morris Bernard, vicepresident; Mrs. Joseph Mitchell, treasurer; Mrs. Joseph Solomon, secretary, and Mrs. Ezra Baker, financial secretary. A donation of $100.00 was voted for the American Red Cross.
Miss Annette Hirschman of Stanton Island, N. Y., visited her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Haase of this city, last weekend. Among the affairs held in her honor was a buffet supper given Sunday night by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lampel.

Irene Krause Wed in Synagogue Ceremony Special HAMMOND—Mr. and Mrs. Max Krause announce the marriage of their daughter, Irene, to Seymour Silverman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Silverman of East Chicago. The wedding took place last Thursday at Knesseth Israel Synagogue with Rabbis Sydney K. Mossman and Solomon Miller officiating. The newlyweds left for New Orleans and points south and will stop off at Camp Crowder, Mo., to visit the bride’s brother, Pvt. Arnold Krause. ■ Estherose Greenwald Engaged To Robert Bachrach Special GARY—Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin P. Greenwald, Gary, Ind., announced th eengagement of their daughter, Estherose, to H. Robert Bachrach, at the Chicago Beach Hotel. Mr. Bachrach has enlisted in the Army Air Corps and expects to be called in the near future . Mrs. David Lurvey has been nominated for president of the Temple Sisterhood, it was announced this week. Also nominated were Mrs. Sidney Mahalowitz, first vice-president; Mrs. William Schloss, second vicepresident; Mrs. I. E. Solomon, treasurer; Miss Essie Solomon, financial secretary; Mrs. Arthur Cassell, corresponding secretary and Mrs. Mark Frank, recording secretary. * * * Indianapolis Council of Jewish Juniors sponsored a card party Tuesday, April 21, at Kirshbaum Center. Miss Sylvia Madiel, chairman, had as her committee the Misses Janet Frisch, Estelle Grossman, Helen Kay, Genesia Epstein, Jeanette Rappaport, and Mimi Bluestein.

Evansville Thisbe Lodge Initiation Impressive EVANSVILLE—One of the finest and most impressive ceremonies observed in Evansville was the initiation held here on March 29 by Thisbe Lodge No. 24 of the Evansville B’nai B’rith. The ceremony was conducted by the Indianapolis degree team headed by Jack Kammins and Julius Medias with Rabbi Joseph A. Gorfinkie and Ferd Kluga assisting. The banquet following the initiation ceremony was held at the McCurdy Hotel rose room with Lewis R. Sutin of Terre Haute as guest speaker. He presented plaques to Herman Levin and Sol Ellenstein for their outstanding work in securing 85 new members for the Lodge. Master of ceremonies was Rabbi Joseph A. Gorfinkel.
