' THE INDIANAPOLIS TIMES New Laurels Won af English’ s ‘By Gilbert and Sullivan Cast
By MILDRED KOSCHMANN-* For the second night in a row the catchy Gilbert and Sullivan tunes dnd their humorous operatic lines: amused English theatergoers —this time in a double feature. On the program were the short, one-act “Trial -by Jury” and the
popular tale of a sailor's love, “H. \M. 8. Pinafore.” As in “The Mikado,” Thursday night, Ralph Riggs again was the star and at his best. He played the very distinguished looking first lord of the admiralty, the Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Porter in “Pinafore.” Commanding the ship was Capt. Corcoran, played by Bertram Peacock, a good-looking fellow with a nice voice. His daughter was the opera company’s prima donna, Kathleen Roche, and her suitor, Ralph Rackstraw, was poruayed by James Gerard.

Not to he forgotten in the ship's crew was Robert Pitkin as old Dick Deadeye, the disagreeable rough and ready seaman. “Pinafore” is the story: of the love of an able seaman for his captain's’ daughter, whose hand is sought by Sir Joseph. Ihe disparity in rank, however, doesn’t allow the two young lovers to
