COW AND NORSE DEALS OF 6.0. P. AROUSE MYERS Candidate Hurls Sarcasm at Fall Loan and Jackson Racing Animal. Bn Times Special ALBION, Ind., Feb. 23.—Humor and cutting sarcasm were intermingled in the Washington's birthday address delivered here Wednesday night by Walter Myers, Indianapolis attorny and candidate for the Democratic nomination for United States Senator. “On this anniversary of the birthday of the father of our country,” Myers said, “the occasion invites a contrast between the virtues of the fathers and the virtues of some of the sons.” Washington and his ragged continentals "shivered and froze and starved and fought because government had put a tax on tea and taxation without representation was tyranny,” Myers said. G. O. P. Live Stock In contrast, he painted the picture of “Sinclair and his gang” putting a tax on oil and then trying desperately to hush up the transaction. Commenting that “some of this money was to buy blooded cattle for Fall's ranch at Three Rovers,” Myers shouted: “It seems that crooked Republicans run to live stock—cattle in New Mexico and horses in Indiana. “For louder than the craven Richard at Bosworth held, the Governor of this commonwealth cried: ‘A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!’ “But Governor Jackson has his limitations—statutory as well as physical. “Doheny's son rode from New York to Washington with SIOO,OOO in a black satchel and Fall’s son-in-law rode all the way to Denver with a quarter of a million dollars in Liberty bonds. Both were quiet as church mice. How different from the ride of Paul Revere! Hurrah for Liberty! “Thomas Jefferson was born in wealth and died in poverty after a lifetime of usefulness and service to his country. “Vare of Pensylvania and Smith of Illinois spent millions to buy seats in the United States Senate and neither has the remotest dream of ending his days in poverty. “Patrick Henry, confronted with treason for saying it, demanded: ‘Give me liberty or give me death!’ “D. C. Stephenson demands: ‘Give me liberty; I'm glad they only gave me life.’ “Governor Jackson shouts: ‘Three cheers for the statute of limitations! That gave me liberty! ’ ”
HUNT WOMAN TO WARN HER OF RABIES DANGER Believe Former Servant Was Bitten by Pet Poodle. Bp United Press NEW YORK, Feb. 23.—News- j papers, the radio and the police; cooperated unsuccessfully today in a search for Mrs. Margaret Daugherty, who may be, without her knowledge, infected with rabies. Mrs. Daugherty until recently was a domestic in the family of R. Donaldson. A poodle owned by Donaldson died Saturday of rabies. They believed that Mrs. Daugherty before she left had been bitten by the dog. j* The Donaldsons inserted an ad- j vertisement in the New York papers warning Mrs. Daugherty, so she could be given Pasteur treatment, i The alarm was broadcast over the j municipal radio station WNCY and I sent on the police telegraph system | so that every patrolman in New | York was on the lookout.
