Sevenhundredpeopleattended the Planner house home-coming and harvest festival, at Crispas Attacks High School. The program was arranged by Dr. Frederick B. Knight. A record was probably established for the nation on registration day when Lester Johnson, 62, personally saw to it that 10 of his 17 sons sign up for the draft. A checklist showed that the youngest was 21 and the eldest 35

years of age.

Old-timers looked with dismay upon the passing of blacks for the hotel scene and were unhappy with their replacement with German and Italian workers in many large hotels and clubs throughout this section of

the country.

Opening offices at 309 Walker Ave., Dr. Paul A. Battles, physician and surgeon, began practicing medicine and surgery in Indianapolis. Approximately 2500 people at-

tended a dance at the Sunset Terrace, sponsored by the National young Republicans. All GOP county candidates,county and city officials attended the

affair.

The Indianapolis Branch of the Needlework Guild of America invented its members and the public to their annual tea and exhibition of garments at the First Presby- ~

terian Church. Tea was served by the Alpha Amkion Alpha Sorority, with Mrs. Charles E. Bowes as chairman. Stewards of St. Paul AME Church presented Lillian Cordilia Brown, the 9-year-old pianist student of Lil-

lian L. Leman at School 37.

A birthday luncheon was held in Lockfield for Mrs. Jennie Woods. Mrs. Ernest Bigbee entertained Dr. Carolyn Lucas-Dickson of Washington, D.C. Members of the Stardust Whist Club, celebrated their anniversary at the home of Mrs. Allice Ellis. The Neighborettes enjoyed a
