Miss Myers, Mrs. Williams to speak at Northside New Era
MISS MARVA MARIE MYERS Annual Woman’s Day services will be held at Northside New Era Baptist Church, 517 West 30th street, Sunday, November 5. The speaker ior the 11 a.m. services will be Miss Marva Marie Myers. Miss Myers is a product of the Indianapolis Public Schools and a graduate of Ball State University with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Myers. At an early age Miss Myers accepted Christ as her Saviour and became a member of the Northside New Era Baptist Church where she still retains her membership. At 3:30 p.m. the speaker will be Mrs. Therese Skillman Williams. Mrs. Williams who was born in Owensville, Kentucky and moved to Indianapolis at an early age is also a product of the Indianapolis Public Schools. Mrs. Williams, an ardent church worker, is the wife of the Rev. Andrew L. Williams, pastor of the East 3ide Baptist Church. She is a candidate for the Bachelor’s decree at Indiana Central Colege. Miss Myers was a member )f the experiment in Christian iving at the Baptist Student -foundation at Ball State Uniersity. She is now a member >f the board of this organizaion. Among her other achievenents while at the university neluded membership on the ommittee on Residence Hall Government; corridor chairman, ecording secretary of Lucina Hall and student staff memjer of Menk Residence Hall, j She was also selected one of hree “outstanding juniors in elementary education.” Mrs. Williams, a mother of dx children, with a determined desire to complete her education, began the advanced study in religion for the purpose of being instrumental in the religious training of the youth of the church. She soon discovered that she had accumulated enough credits which if she continued her studies, she would also be qualified in the academic training of youth as well.

MRS.' THERESA (Skillman) WILLIAMS Already recognized as a religious leader and speaker, Mrs. Williams has “showed herself approved unto God. a workman that needeth not he ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” Mrs. Williams is presently doing student teaching at School 41. M;ss Myers attended the World Student Conference at Green Lake. Wisconsin in 1965 and she suh?t-quern3y served as Counselor at the Baptist Summer Camp at Tippecanoe. Following her return from the Tippecanoe Camp, and a “fillin engagement as principal speaker at a human relations forum in Muncie, she accepted several requests to speak to various groups and churches on matters relating to human relations and Christian living. Dr. William McGinnis of the Baptist Student Foundation has highly commended Miss Myers as an example of young Christian womanhood. Miss, Myers, is presently a teacher in the South Bend public school system and member of the Indiana State Teachers Association. She is a resident of Elkhart, Indiana. Rev. N. E. Vincent is pastor of the church.
Women's club serves at Mt. Paran A group of young women who are members of Mt. Paran Baptist Church will observe their first year of service to the church during November. The club which has grown from 8 to 18 members was organized by Mrs. Ruth Hughes Moore, assisted by Mrs. Lula Johnson. The name \'t the club is “The King’s Daughter’s and the purpose is render service to the church and all other organizations of the church. Members perform duties as hostesses, dining service, clerical and typing, membership contacts, greeting and registering visitors. Officers are Janet Hughes, president; Maxine Anderson, vice - president; Margaret Rhodes, second vice-president; Bernice Malone, secretary; Lillie Miller, assistant secretary; Mary Harrison, financial secretary; Charlene Mills, corresponding secretary; Edith Barker, club and building fund treasurer; Effie Moore, charity fund treasurer. Mrs. Mary Jetter will speak at Shiloh Sunday
MISSIONARY DAY SET SUNDAY ALLEN CHAPEL
CIVIC CLUB MEETS: The Northeast Side Christian Civic Club met Sunday at the home of Rev. A. Palmer, 3205 Euclid. The club was formed last July 4 with the purpose of aiding in community needs and to improve living conditions on the Northeast Side, but Rev. Palmer pointed out that there is no limit to the area it may cover. MISS MYRTLE MAE MILLER Miss Myrtle Mae Miller of First Church, Gary, Indiana will be guest speaker for the 71st anniversary of the Flora Grant Missionary Society of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Rev. H. E. Floyd accepts call at Princeton Rev. Herman Eugene Floyd, 952 E. Dixon, Kokomo, Indiana has been called as pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church at Princeton, Indiana. Rev. Floyd is a student at Central Theological Seminary. He delivered his acceptance sermon at the church on Sunday, October 29. Formal installation services will be held Sunday, November 19 at 3 p.m. Rev. L. E. Burton, pastor of Second Baptist Church, Kokomo, will deliver the installation sermon.
