The Post Golden Anniversary of the 51st National Assembly of the Church of the Living God will be held September 20th until September 25th at the Church of the Living God, 901 N. Belleview Place, Indianapolis, Indiana. Elder Archie Swanson is the Host Pastor, Bishop A. B. Williams, President, Bishop J. A. McFall, 1st Vice President and Bishop A. H. Pigg, 2nd Vice President. On Monday, September 19th at 8 p.m. there will be a PreAssembly Program. Come and hear the 50 Voice Chorus directed by Mrs. Novella Swanson. This great chorus will be made of the singers of this city and Decatur, 111. Tuesday, September 20 at 8 p.m., there will be a Citizen's Night Program. There will be a welcome address given by Mr. Albert Losche, Representative of Mayor John J. Barton. Also appearing in behalf of organizations indicated are: Rev. JJohn Francisco, A.M.E. 8th Anniversary For Traveling Innerlights There will be Pre-Anniver-sary services beginning September 19 and ending September 24th. Services will begin each evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Mt. Mrs. Daisy Bates of Little Rock, Arkansas, author and lecturer, will be the principal speaker for Women’s Day at St. Marks Temple AME Zion Church, located at 1801 South Shelby Streets here in the city, on Sunday morning 11 a.m. and at 3:30 p.m. Sunday September 25, 1966. Mrs. Bates led the fight to desegregation Central High School in Little Rock in 1957. The stand of Mrs. Bates and the nine Negro students had far reaching effects in the field of education. For at Little Rock, the Federal Troops (proved that no State government can refute the might of the United States government. Mrs. Bates’ book, “The Long Shadow of Little Rock,” released in 1962, has been translated into Swedish and Russian. She was first recipient of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s First Annual Mary Church Terrell award. In 1963 Mrs. Bates was a member of the late President Kennedy’s “New Frontier.” She traveled throughout the country encouraging women to take a more active part in local, state and national politics. Later Mrs. Bates joined the “Great Society” force under President Johnson in the field of Voter Education Democratic National Party. The general public is invited to both services. The theme is “Womans Role in Peace and Poverty.” The chairmen for this year s celebration are Mrs. Romane Carson, Mrs. Cordelia Elliott and the pastor of the church the Reverend Edwin M. O’Neal.
Mrs. Louise Hurt Funeral rites for Mrs. Louise Hurt, 70, were held Saturday, Sept. 10, in Capitol Avenue Seven Day Adventist Church. Mrs. Hurt died Tuesday, Sept. 6, in Marion County General Hospital. Survivors: two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Hardy and Mrs. Comalethia D. Lowry; a son, Calvin Hurt.
