Mom Fetes Daughter At Gala Birthday Party - Her 8th

MRS. ELSIE THOMPSON AND DAUGHTER, ELSIE Little Miss Elsie Tawana Thompson of 1106 Eugene was highly feted at a party marking her eighth birthday given by

her mother, Mrs. Elsie Thomp-

son.

Her cake, shaped like a bonnet, was decorated with ribbons and candles. Another cake was baked by Mrs. Ola Hill of Levin Baptist Church. In addition to cake, ice cream and candy Little Miss Thompson’s guests received hats as favors. The School 56 second grader enjoyed the "Happy Birthday" song sung by fellow classmates. Gifts were received from Mrs. Dilcy Thompson, Miss Lizzie Perry, and Mr. and Mrs. George Guilford of Great Bend, Kan., and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Cushenberry and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Cushenberry of Topeka, Kans. Hostesses assisting Mrs. Thompson were Mrs. Delores McCutchen of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Elsie Thompson. Art Bazaar To Feature Work Of Students The ninth annual children’s art bazaar will be at the William H. Block Company auditorium Tuesday through Thursday, April 14-18. All public, parochial and private schools in the city and county are invited to participate. An art teacher from each oarticipating school selects eight pictures, at least one from each grade, which are displayed at the auditorium. Blue ribbons, awarded by the judges, are given the most promising pictures which are referred to as “museum choice” and sell for $2. Remaining pictures se'l
