Helen Hallums. who will play “Queenie” in the Starlight Musicals’ production of “Showboat" at the Indiana .State Fairgrounds starting on July 31, comes well equipped. A local resident, graduate of Crispus Attucks high school, she sang as a soloist for six years with the famed “Wings Over Jordan" choir. She is heard as soloiost in such recor lines as "Kepn M° Sink ing Down.” "Pray On,” “Just a Closer Walk With Thee." and “Going to Die With the Staff in My Hand.’’. She traveled extensively with the group, touring Europe for ten months as principal soloist in 1945. She has also appeared with the group in Hollywood Bowl, Convention Hall at Philadelphia, and with the Boston symphony orchestra.
