Hood Temple AMB Zion church Rev. H. H. Sink, pastor. The services were largely attended. The Sunday school also was nicely attended. The pastor preached a splendid sermon, subject Mother’s prayer. The choir sang appropriate music. In the afternoon, the Stewardess board sponsored a musical and literary program assisted by the choir and young people. Miss Luedna Shanks was in charge. Mrs. McCain, wife of our presiding elder was guest speaker and read a splendid paper and poem on Mothers. The pastor and choir rendered services Monday night at the Open Door Mission church. Rev. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Ethel Simpson Hyte. Burial in Grandview cemetery. The Odd Fellows and Masonic lodges had charge of services. • Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie McCullough, who died at St. Anthony hospital, Friday, were held Suuday at First Free Baptist church. Survivors are the husband, John; a son, Wesley Green, six bothers, Curtis and Herman Barnett, Chicago; Sam Nathan, James aud Thomas Scott, Terre Haute; four sisters, Mrs. Mable Williams, Henderson, Ky., Mrs. Cornelia Cantrell, Evansville; Mrs. Beatrice Dixon and Miss Ardelia Barnet, city. Moon, racial relations counsellor for the United States housing Authority, was iu this city last week upon request of the New Albany Housing Authority and interviewed colored residents of this city aud members of the City’s Housing Authority. Zion Baptist church Monday. She had been a resident of Hammond for the past twenty-four years, and leaves as survivors three daughters, Mrs. Rose Bafnes of Indianapolis ; Josephine Williams, Hammond ; Eva Whitehead; two sons, William Johnson, Hammond, and Jack Barnes, East Chicago. East Chicago, Ind. Rev. T. S. Saunders, pastor of First Baptist church preached an inspiring Mothers’ Day sermon to a capacity filled church. One of of the largest crowds in the history of the church attended the services Sunday night, to hear Rev. J. H. Singleton of Pittsview, Ala., who formerly pastored a number of the congregation. * He is the uncle of Patrolman James Gainer and related to others. * Sunday afternoon, the paistor, cflioi 1 ’ and congregation participated in the dedication program of the new auditorium of St. John Baptist church of Gary, of which Rev. Leon Davis is pastor. The Northern District Baptist Association holds its twenty : second annual session at St. John Baptist church iu Gary, May 19-25. * Tabernacle Baptist church. Rev. J. E. Allen pastor. The pastor preached a Mothers’ Day sermon. The junior choir rendered several fine selections. The Building Fund rally was successful.
