In preceding issues, the writer attempted to reveal for Ike information of the general public, the large number of various busl-/ ness concerns that are being conducted in Indjanapolis by enterprising members of the group. It is not generally konwn that a surprisingly large number of these business undertakings are tucked away behind the screen of nonpublicity and into the city’s many nooks and corners. Never-the-less. such is the definitely ascertained fact; a circumstance which explains the reason why the great bulk of colored business enterprises were never even heard of by hundreds of potenital patrons. The purpose of these articles is merely to bring them out of darkness into

stagnant status of the average colored business future as revealed by an intensive investigation instituted by the adbvertising department of The Indianapolis Recorder. This, as has been pointed out time and again by a staff corrcsa peculiar neglect on the part of a vast number of colored business men and women to afford themselves obtainable and profitable advertisement. The result is that the Negro as a business man in Indianapolis, is suarely in the category of a negligible quantity. The several districts already covered in previous articles comprise the east end, including Brightwcod, Haughville and the south side from West Indianapolis to Irvington, including Norwood and Glencoe.
