Judge Woods has given a ruling in the suit of the Keystone Bridge Company against the Henderson Bridge Company, awarding plaintiff judgment for $79,743.90, with interest from November 4, 1885. The defendant company was incorporated,in 1883 to erect a bridge across the Ohio River at Henderson, Ky., and a contract for a superstrnctnre was awarded to the Keystone Company in February, 1884, and it was stipulated that tb* same should be completed January 1, 1885. Th* Henderson Company agreed to build tbe piera, but owing to the delay of the latter, the eontract could not be completed within the specified time. Tbe defendant* refused payment on the ground that there bad been upueceesary delay. The bridge was finished in June, 1886, ten monihs after the stipulated time, aod the court was lodinsd to think that the plaintiffs had been negligent between the months of June and November, nnd to, in awarding tbe judgment $12,500 damage* was also assessed against the plaintiff as due the defendant. Boston, September 20.—At Ashland, a town near Worocater, last svening an effigy placard with the name ot Dr. J. H. Blaisdell waa hung from a tree in th* village square. On the breast of the effigy was tbe inscriptiion, “This is tbs way ire treat mashers. Nine miles to Marlboro. This is the way we serve destroyers of homos. GU.” Dr. Blaisdell is charged with being too assiduous in his attentions to Mrs. Ellen F. Stiles.
