TRADE. '
During the last half of last week trade was generally considered dull, the rough, atomy weather being the principal cause. ENGLAND. Loudon, February 14.—A dispatch from Versailles states that the GertCan authorities have offered to extend the armistice td the Departments of ^ura and Daubs, on condition Of immediate surrender of the fortress of Belfort to the German besieging army and the withdrawal of the Faench garrison at present defending the city. The proposal for submission met with an indignant refusal by the French Commanders, who desire the continuance of hostilities and refute to recognise the existence of the armistice. FRANCE. Bordkacx, February 14 —General Garibaldi in a speech delivered to-dayrenounced the office of Delegate to the Assembly and declared be has always known how t to distinguish priestridden France from republican France. The announcement of the resignation by M. Jules Favre and his colleagues of the committee of National Defense of their powers into the hands of the Natioifol Assembly, was prematurely made. They will remain in authority for the purpose of maintaining order until some regularly organized government has been established by the Assembly. M. Favre has delivered a speech in which he expressed the hope to be able to prove to Prussia that France can do its duty, and that the enemy must be convinced that we have the honor of France at heart. He deems a prolongation of the present armistice neces-
sary.
General Garibaldi in presenting his resignation to the Assembly yesterday, wished to express fully the reasons for his resigning'his commission, and withdrawing from the cause of France. With this intention the General several times attempted to secure himself A hearing, to which however, the majority of the
Assembly refused to listen.
The following calculation of the result of the recent election may be considered entirelv reliable. The representatives party has elected one hundred and fifty representatives to the Assembly. The Legitimists have returned fifty. The Urleanists have an immense majority and return four hundred Republicans. The Bona-
partists have elected twenty.
Paris, February 14.—The result of the election* has now been ascertained. Twenty-five Bonapartists have been elected. The Monarchist party is greatly in the ascendant, and it is estimated that tbey have carried half of the entire Assembly. The Orleanists have a powerful majority. In almost all election districts the IteoilbUcans have fallen behind and are in
the minority.
The railroad service between Lille and
Paris has been again stopped.
Rnmora are current of a general uprising which has taken place in the invaded districts, but the reports need reliable confirmation. The leading bankers and financiers of the City have voluntarU f subscribed a sum cover-
ing the amount of the city loan.
M. Favre had been depnted by the French government to ask that a further extension of the armistice be granted by Germany. He has been granted full powers to negotiate the extension with the German government, and will proceed immediately to Versailles. Versailles, February 15.—The French forces within the city of Belfort have accepted the armistice, and the fortress now offers to
capitulate to the German troops.

The caisson of the East River Bridge on the Brooklyn side, is almost completed. The interior is nearly filled with stone and concrete, making it now one solid mass of masonry on the inside. The woi;k on the outside is progressing rapidly, huge blocks of gMfeite ore being laid one over the other in a most substantial manner. The work on the New York side was begun some time since and is now progressing os rapidly as possible under the circumstance.
