Strader, from New Orleans, to Louisville; Sam. J. Hale, froia Cincinnati to Memphis; Champion, from St. Louis to Cincinnati; Fails City, from Bowling Green to Louisville; Chattanooga, from Wabash Iliver to Evansville; Alcona and barge, from Pittsburg to Keokuk; Lorena, from 1'ittsburg to St. Louis; Alice V., from Cincinnati to St. Louts; Tennessee, from Cairo to Evansville; and the Newsboy and Mollie Norton, from Henderson to Evansville and return ; Mornine Star, for Louisville. lioats' Pile. Among the first boats due here are the Shamrock, for St. Louis; Pine Grove, for Nashville; Mineola, for Memphis; J. II. Groesbeek, from New Orleans ; Westmoreland, for New Orleans; Cora S. and Talequah, for Arkansas River; It. E. Lee and Dexter, New Orleans to Louisville; and Legal Tender, Louisville to New Orleans. jhc Hum-on Business was but moderate on the wharf yesterday The P. W. Strader, N. O , to Louisville, with a moderate trip, passed up at 2 a. m., yesterday The Sam J. Hale, Cincinnati to Memphis, arrived at 4 A. M., with a good trip, discharging from 25 to 30 tons of freight at this place. Amongst the freight discharged, we noticed three large bells from the Niles Works, Cincinnati, designed for use at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, this city, the bells weighing 7,471 pounds. She had but a moderate trip for .below, but added considerable freight at this place The Champion, St. Louis to Cincinnati, arrived at 4 A. M. Monday, fully loaded with iron ore The Falls City, Bowling Green to Louisville, with a fair trip, mostly of tobacco, arrived at 7 A. M., Monday The Chattanooga, with a moderate trip, arrived from Wabash Iliver at eight A. M- The Abeona and barge, Pittsburg to Keokuk, arrived at nine a. M., both loaded deep. She discharged considerable freight here. Captain F. M. Humphrey left yesterday Hiorniug, by the steamer Morniug Star, for Louisville and Cincinnati. He will be absent a few days The Lorena, Pittsburg to St. Louis, with a big trip of freight, arrived at 10 A. M., having a large number'of emigrants The Alice Y., Cincinnati to St. Louis, with a big trip, arrived at 12 M. She discharged about GOO kegs, of nails at this place for hardware dealers. Itoatx I.pnvlnsf T-Iy. For Cairo. The Tennessee, which fcas taken the place of the Cumberland, Captain Ben. Howard in command, will be the regular Cairo packet to-day. She has been repainted, and looks as neat as may be. Captain Ben. is just the man to make people feel at home while boarding with him. For Cumberland River. The Fanny Brandeis, Captain Henry Miller on the roof, and Kit Iludd in the office, will leave to-day for Nashville, Qt 4 o'clock. The Fanny is one of ' the pleasant crafts. Her oiSeers are both courteous and accommodating. For Henderson. The Newsboy and Mollie Norton will both leave j for Henderson at 4 P. M. southwest. The barometer here indicated 29:37 at 7 a. m.. 29:35 at 12 M., and 29:52 at 7 a.m., 29:40 at 12 m., 29:32 at t P. M., while the mercury ranged at 59 at 7 a. M., 74 at 12 M., and S4 degrees at C P. M. Here the river has receded 12 inches during the 24 hours ending last night, with 16 feet in the channel by the W aterworks' mark, and 8G feet under the Covington bridge for passing steamers. Congress should be immediately petitioned to place an injunction on this proposed bridge, and more especially if the spans are to be less than 500 feet; even w'rh this length of span it would be difficult for flat-boats and steamers to avoid the obstruction the piers will present, and we predict an immense destruction of water-craft property if this bridge is allowed to oe built. The Courier ei Saturday says: The river was falling slowly yesterday, with 6 fect water in the canal, 4 in the chute, and 3 on the rocks last evening, a fail of G inches since ou;- last report. Business on the lauding was brisk. A heavy robbery was committed on the last up trip of the Pargoud. While she was approacr ine Helena the stateroom of Mr. J. D. Wiuter, a citizen of Louisiana, was entered by a thief and $75G in currency, twenty-one 5-20 coupon interest bond- amounting to $h;2, and a draft on New Orleans for -4f, stolen. No trace could be got of the thief, and it is supposed he left the boat at St. Helena. St. Louis. The Dftocrit of Saturday says: Weather hot yesterday, and. bcinsr hot, was uncomfortable. River still rising here, but failing at Dubuque. Heavy loads of freight are the rule of the packets from all the upper rivers. Missouri ltiver boats coming down, occasionally re'-ie offers. The Missouri is reported ris ing slowly at Ilandall. The oppo.-i-tion boats, Jasper and Jo!.;::: ju, were observed by many interested partie leaving yesterday for Keokuk;, the Jasper ahead this time. The opposition St. Paul pickets, Minnesota and Ita-ca, leave to-day. The flags of the steamer iu port were lowered to half-mast, yesterday, to the memory of Capt. ian. Musselman, deceased. He left this city a few weeks ago, being in bad health, for Baily's Springs, Alabama, where according to a telegraph dispatch, he died on the evening of last Wednesday, April 29ih, attended" by his faithful colored servent, Harvey Smiley, who accompanied him theteo to the Springs and was to start for Memphis yesterday with his body. Capt. Musselmau died of dropsy of the chest.
