MISCELLANEOUS.

-. Scrofula, or King's Evil. is a constituional disease, acorrupiion of the bl. 4 by which this CiiiJ becomes .vitiated, weak t 3d poor. Being in the circulation, it pervades the whole body, aud may burst oat iu disease in. that part of it. No organ is free from its attack, nor la there one which it may not destroy. The acrotu lous taint is censed by mercurial diaee, low living disordered or unhealthy food, impure air, filth and filthy habits, the depressing vices, and, above all. by the venereal infection. Whatever be its origin, it is hereditary in the Constitution, descending "from parent to children, unto the third aod fourth generation;" indeed, it seems to be the rod of Uuu who says, I will visit the iniquities of the fathers npou their children. " . Lu affects eoniiuence by deposition from the blood of eerrapt or nloeroua matter, which, in the lungs, liver, and Internal organs, is termed tubercles; In the glands, sweliicps ; aud, on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul corruption, which genders in the blood, depresses the energies of lite, so that scrofulous eomititotlonti not only Buffer from scrofulous complaints, bat they have far less power to withstand the attacts of other diseases; consequently vast numbers perish by disorders which, although not scrofulous in tueir nature, are atill rendered fetal by this taint Iu the system. Bloat of the consumption which decimates the human family hits ita origin directly in this scrofulous contamination ; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed, of all the organs, arUe from or are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people are scrofi.rou ; their tons are invaded by this lui king infection, and tLeir health la undermined by it. To cleanse It from the system we must renovate the blood by an alterative medicine, and invigorate it by healthy food and exercise. Snuh a medicine we supply In -5l yor m 9 ta Compound Extract of Sarsaparilla, the most effnetoal remedy which the medical s: ill of our times can devise for tiiij everywhere prevailing and fatal malady. It is combined from the most active remedials that have been discovered for the expurgation of this foul disorder from the blood, and the rescue of the system from its destructive consequences. Hence it should be employed for the cure of not only Scrofula, but also those other affections which arise from it, such as Eruptive and 8s:rs Diseases, St. Anthony's Fire, Bosk, or Ebxsipelas, Pimples, Pustules, Blotches, Blmns, and Boiles, Tumors, Tetteb aud Salt Ken's, Scald Read, Rinoworm, Bheumatisbi, Syphilitic and Mercurial Diseases, Daopsr, Dsbilitt and, indeed, all Cohplaints arising pboh Vitiated oa Impure Blood. The popular belief in "vmparitiyof thtblood" is founded in truth, for scrofnla is a degeneration of the blood. The particular purpose and virtue of this Sarsaparilla is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid, without which sound health is impossible in contamiuated constitutions. -a. "ST IE. 23 S3 St . 1 FOB THE SPEEDY CORE OF IiiUrvuttent Fever, or Fever and Ague, Remittent Fever, Chill Fever, Dumb Ague, Periodical Headache, or Bilious Headache, and Biliout Fevers, indeed, for ths whole class of diseases originating in biliary derangement, caused by the Malaria of Miasmatic Countries. We are enablvd here to offer the community a remedy which, while it cures the above complaints with certainty, is still perfectly harmless in any quantity. Such a remedy is invaluable in districts wbera these afflicting disorders prevail. This "Cure" expels the miasmatic poison of Fever anb Aoue from the system, and prevents the developments of the disease, if taken on the first approach of its premonitory symptoms. It is not only ths best remedy ever yot discovered for this class of complaints, but also the cheapest. The large quantity we supply for a dollar brings it within tne reach of everybody; and in bilious districts, where Fbver and Aoue prevails, everybody should have it and use it freely, both for cure and protectionA great superiority of this remedy over any other ever discovered for the soeedy and certain curs of Intormittnnts Is that it contains no Quinine st Miners, consonnetyity it produces no quinii-m or injurious effects whatever upnn the constitution. Those cured by it are left as healthy as if they h ad never had the disease. Fevei md Ague is not alone the con!euenc of the miasmatic poison. A great variety of disordreas arise from its irritation ; among which are Ntntruljjui, Rhriumalimn, Gout, Headache, Bhndne! Toothache. Earache. Catarrh, Athma, Palpitation, .Paorui Ajictio the SpU, Hysttttue, I'ui.-t tn , BoweU, Volte, Paralysi and Iterangement f Oie Stomach, all of which, when originating in this cause, pnt on the intermittent type, or become periodical. This ' Cure " expels the poison from the blood, and consequently cures them all alike. It is an invaluable protection to immigrants, or persons travelling or temporarily residing iu the malarious districts. . If taken occasionally or daily while expoeed to the intection, that will be excreted from the system, and caunot accumulate insufficient quantity to ripen into disease. Hence it is ev.in more valuab'e for protection than cure, and few will ever suffer f rom Intermittents if they avail themselves of the protection this remedv affords. Prepared by Dr. J C.
