United States Steel advanced a large fraction with Bethlehem Steel and American Car. Rails fluctuated narrowly with metals. Liberty 4V4 bonds sold at the new low record of 98.36.

Trading in stocks today continued in large volume with violent upward movement in equipments and numerous specialties, including ells, sugars, tobaccofi, marine pfd. distillers and lesser issues at extreme gains of 1 to 3 points. United State steel was variable, recovering the greater part of yesterday's moderate reversal, then reacting but strengthening again in the later dealings. Hails and coppers were heavy, causing some reduction of general gains at ihe end. The closing was strong. Sales approximated 500.000 sharef Liberty 4 Vi made a n»w low record, declining from 98.40 to 98.^0. The 3%'s sold at 98.92 to 99. firet 4's at 95.64 to 95.82 and second 4's at 95.68 to 95.76.

Oats like corn, showed decided weak* ness. After openiris: to 1 Vi down, with July, 65% to 66c prices continued to recede.

Downturns in the valut frf hog* caused provisions to drop.
