The bride was attired in a beautiful dress of cream etamine, trimmed in silk applique and satin ribbons, and the bridesmaid wore a gown of blue silk mull trimmed in satin vibbons. The groom and groomsman were ^.attired in full evening dress suits of siiblitck. After congratulations a six course 4'supper was served.

The different rooms were adorned with holly. A conversational table was arranged in the horary where punch was served. The prizes were won by Mrs.

Miss Frances Moelter gave a watch party New Year's eve at her home, 457 South Fourteenth street. Only the members of her club were invited. Conversation and ganies were indulged in. Messrs. Will Schommcr and Herman Brunner played several selections on stringed instruments also the Sunflower quartette, consisting of Will Schoimner, Charles Stark, Claude Bousche and Harry Aufterhall, were very kind and sang several songs. Refreshments were served at a late hour. Those present were: Misses Eula Trinkle, Estella Pinder, Lola Day, Sue Pinder, Frances Moelter, Rosa Masselink, Lena Bueckev,' Gertrude Iloetker Katie Weirtz, Messrs. Will Schommer, Joe Roetker, Herman Brunner. Clem Roetker, Claude Bousche, Harry Aufterhall Charles Stark, Jitn Duffy, Will Buecker. The guests departed at a late hour wishing all a happy New Year. The next meeting will be with Miss Eula .Trinkle next Friday evening, January 9, 1903, at her home, 238 South Ninth street. She will have the honor of entertaining the first, time in the new year.
The ladies of the Washington Avenue Presbyterian church Thursday night surprised Rev: F, M. Fox, the pastor, and his estimable wife, bv calling at their home on South Sixth street in a body and presenting .hem with a largo rug, some lace curtains and some chinaware. The presentation speeh was to have been made by Judge Sawyer, but illness in his family prevented him from attending, and Mrs. Scovel made the presentation speech. The surprise was a complete one.
The Hawthorne Reading club will meet Monday afternoon with Mrs. G. O. Webb of No. 313 South Sixth street, instead of with Mrs. W. H. Jackson, as stated on the club calendar.
Otto R. Chamberlain and Essie Bayless, both West Terre Haute young people, were married' by Justice Bennett Thursday evening at 8 o'clock. The ceremony was performed at the squire's office on Ohio street in the presence of a few friends. Immediately after the wedding the young people left for their home in West Terre Haute.
Miss Elizabeth Solomon entertained her Sunday school class of the Central Presbyterian church on New Year's afternoon. Music by the Misses Reba and Ruth Carlisle, Ora Barker find Mary Maxwell, and various amusing games were enjoyed, after which ice cream, cake and candy were passed. The members of the class, numbering twenty, are as follows: Anna Gilsdorf Maud Tressel, Gussie Beale, Essre Brown, Ana Jean, Mary Maxwell, Marie Rucker, Gladys Dorrough Alma Klein, Lena Firstenberger, Ora Barker, Bessie Everhart, Ruth Carlisle, Reba Carlisle Elsie Musser, Ethel Ferguson,' Pearl Shuttlewortli, Ethel Henry, Edith Rowley and Beulah Foshee.
Yuma, Arizona, News: '"A very pretty wedding took place in the spacious parlors of the Hotel Graimolf on December 18, 1902, when Miss Gertrude Morrison Dickliout was united in marriage to M. W. Finnell. The bride was formerly a resident of Torre Haute, where she has many warm friends. The groom is a highly respected citizen and prominent business man of Los Angeles. After an extended tour tnrough Mexico and southern California, Mr. and Mrs. Finnell will return to Los Angeles', where they will, pass the winter in the handsome cottage Mr. Finnell has purchased and completely furnished fo- his bride. The summer season will be spent at Playa del Rey, where Mr. Finnell is erecting a summer cottage on Beach Drive..
Seven of Miss Alden's pupils will give a piano recital at Baldwin hall, Friday evening, January 9, at S o'clock. There seems to be a general impression that these recitals are open to the public by invitation only. On the contrary any person: who is enough interested to care to attend is cordialy welcome.

Mrs. Ed Stark entertained' her cinque club on Wednesday afternoon at her home on Liberty avenue. A threecourse lunch was served at 5 o'clock. The afternoon was spent in playing cards, the prizes being won by Mrs. John Arnold and Mrs. Will Matson. The score cards were tied with red ribbon and h£ld dainty caJeiidars. Mr. A. L. Habekotte leaves for Cincinnati Monday to join his wife where they will attend the wedding of their cousin. Miss Ruth Addy, to Mr. S. F. Nave of St. Joseph, Mo., which will be one of the big society events of the winter.
The Friday Literary club met with Mrs. Dr. Mat.tox. The program was a short story reading by Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Day.. The completion of the new White House and the death of--Mrs. Mary Hartwell Cathcrwood were subjects of interest in current events.
Dainty refreshments were passed. Tlie next meeting will be on Januaiy .16 with Mrs. W. A. McBeth.
Mr. Frank Butler of Chicago will pass through the city Monday en route to the south ior a few weeks' vacation. Mi*. Butler is connectcd with Marshall Fields.
Miss Lucy F. Brokaw.entertained the members of the Cooking club Friday afternoon at her home on Mulberry street. An elaborate luncheon was served.
Miss Stella Gerhardt gave a delightful party Friday evening at her home on South Thirteenth street in compliment to her guest, Miss Myrtle Hickson of Clinton, Ind. The guests assembled at S o'clock and the evening was passed in dancing, music and* various games. At 10 o'clock supper was served. The hostess Avas assisted in entertaining by her guest and Miss Fannie Welch. The house was beautifully decorated in pink and white. About twelve couples were present.
