Halfodium gioea the following account of three Quaker weddings at tha maettng bouae in tbai d*j: MAUUKD, At Friends’ Meeting, in thia citj, on Fuorth day, the 3d Inat., Mordecai Morris White, of the Arm of Well*, White A Co., Cincinnati, to Hannah Amelia, daughter of Elijah Coffin, of tbia city. At the Mine time and place, Klwood Hadley, of Clinton county, Ohio, to Ann, daughter of Richard Pedrick.of thia riduityAt tha aamo time and place, Nathan White to Elizabeth Ann Pool. Hating witnemed the abote marriages, we can not but My one word in regard to the becoming, impremire and aolemn manner in which they were consummated. The unusual occur* rence of three marriages oeing solemnized at the same time aud at the same meeting, together with the high character and respectability of all ^ the partiea, induced a large attendance not only 1 of toe members of the Society, bm of others 1 The west end of the Yearly Meeting House would not hold near all of those who were pres- j ent. The partitions were raised and a very large | number were seated in the east portion of the building. The Society of Friends beliere that marriage is a divine institution, and not merely a , ciril contract, hence their mar.iage ceremonies are performed in meetings for Divine worship, without the intervention ot magistrate or clergy. For several years after the rise ot the Society, its members suffered much persecution lor refusing from conseientioa* motives to accomplish their marriages according to the legal form; but for many rears past the laws of England, and of the several States of this Union, hare recognized by "■Mlule enactments the legality of their marriage ceremony In accordance with the long established usages of the Society, on this occasion, at the usual hour and at the usual place of meeting of the Society, there oameinto the meeting house the following parties: M. M. White and A. Coffin, E'wood Hadley and Ann Pedrick, Nathan White aud Elizabeth Aon Pool, all attended by relatives and the usual number of attendants. Being Mated on seats facing the audience, and profound silence prevailing for a few minutes, Enos Pray, a distinguished aud highly acceptable Minister of the S >ciety, arose, and after alluding briefly to the importance and solemn character of the covenant about to be entered into by part es then present, he gave an elmiuent exhortation to all present to live in accordance with the Divine Law, that in the hour of death all might be clothed in the bridal robes of redeemed spirits, aud enter upon a never-ending—an eternity of blies beyond the grave. After the conclusion of the sermon, a friend suggested t iat it was time for the young friends to proceed in the solemniMtion of the holy covenant for which they had assembled. Our young friend, Mr. White, and his bride, arose, and he taking her by the hand, declared in a firm audible voice: "Friends,in the presence of the Lord, and before this assembly, I take Hannah A melia Coffin to be my wife, promising, with Divine assistance, to be unto her a loving and faithful husbind until death shall separate us." In a low, but very distinct voice, the bride made the same declaration, except the necessary change of wor-ls, by which •he promised to be a loving wile, Ac. (Let us say by way of episode, that we noticed the word obit was not included in the declaration of the bride.) In precisely like manner the other parties consummated their marriage service. The certificates of the marriage covenants were signed by the several parties, the brides laying aside their maiden names and assuming for the first time that of their husbands. The certificates were then severally read by Charles F. Coffin, and a number of tha relatives and immediate friends of the par ties, signed them as witnesses. The meeting waa adjourned In the usual manner, the whole audience remaining seated until the parties passed

out.

It might interest onr lady readers to describe the drees of the brides and their attendants, but M w« are not «u /ait in aoch matters, we can only My they were ell, neatly, plainly, and richly attired.
