Boy Scout Troop 65 Plans Activities Boy Scout troop 65 held their regular weekly meeting in the scout room at the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church Monday evening. The meeting was conducted by Scoutmaster Herald Hitchcock, assisted by David Smiti; and Herb Kitson. Gene Ziner discussed the program which the troop will be attending at Big Island July Zt to 29, along with 25 parents. Ziner explained the training and benefits that each boy receives in attending this outing. N. D. Ochsenride presented the charter for troop 65 to Lloyd Kitson, the institutional representative for that troop. May 27 to the Morgan state forest in Southern Indiana. This outing will start Saturday morning and continue until Sunday evening. The parents were asked to assist in furnishing food for the outing. They were also encouraged to travel with the troop. Hitchcock explained the trip and housing facilities which will be provided in cabins at the forest. Sunday worship services will be arranged for both Protestant and Catholic boys. The tenderfoot badge was awarded to Don Williamson by assistant scoutmaster Herb Kitson. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Herald Hitchcock and Mrs. Herb Kitson. Berne Principal On Leave Os Absence « James D. Yoder, Berne-French elementary principal, is taking a two years leave of absence to accept a position as supervisor in the elementary and junior high department of the Colegio Nueva Granda, Bogota, Columbia, South America.
Hospital Institute Scheduled May 18 - FORT WAYNE — The Northeastern Indiana council of the Indiana hospital association will conduct a one-day institute for members of hospital boards of trustees and directors at the Hotel Van Orman here Thursday, May 18. Hospital administrators, assistant administrators and business managers also have been invited to attend the sessions. Charles M. Robbins, administrator of McCray memorial hospital, Kendallville, institute chairman, said negotiations are now being completed for speakers and panelists prominent in the hospital field on national, state and local levels ; to appear on the program. ' The council is comprised of hospitals in 10 counties, including Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells and Whitley. Four Fort Wayne hospitals are members of the council. They are Irene Byron, Lutheran, Parkview memorial and St. Joseph’s. Mrs. Ilene Stipp, administrator of the Clinic hospital, Bluffton, and president of the council, said the institute’s purpose is to present to hospital and community leaders current thoughts and trends which will influence future hospital care. The program will open at 9 a.m. with registration. Three speakers will be heard in the moraine session, beginning at 9:30 Luncheon will be served at noon and the afternoon session, beginning at 1:30, will feature a panel discussion. Reservations for the institute may be mailed with a $5 registration fee, which includes the cost of the luncheon, together with the name and address of each person attending, to Clark Matson, business manager of Irene Byron hospital here. Others on the institute committee with Robbins and Matson are Armond Gemmer, public relations and personnel director of the Lutheran hospital; Miss Lucille Morris, assistant administrator of Parkview memorial, and Carl Smith, administrator of the Huntington county hospital at Huntington.

HEADON SMASH resulted in the above damage to a car driven by Julian Kramer, 18, of Monroe, in an accident that occurred on highway 27 south of Decatur at the entrance to the Yost woods’ addition. In the background is the Guereca auto, from the driver’s side, the side least damaged. The actadeot took place about 2:40 p. m. Tuesday and all seven people were hospitalized.
COURT News Reset Fw Trial In the case of the state of Indiana vs. Jose R. Guerra, on a charge of reckless driving, the case was resen for trial by court June 6 at 9 a.m. Divorce Caaea A motion to dismiss was filed by the plaintiff in the divorce case of Lucian J. Morin vs. Lenwood Agnes Morin. The motion was submitted to the court, and the court ordered the action dismissed. It was further ordered that the costs of the action be assessed against the plaintiff. By agreement of both parties, the cause was continued and reset for trial May 29 in the divorce case of Ethel M. Urick vs. Robert Urick. Estate Cases The final report of the Arthur B. Wilder estate was filed and the notice ordered issued returnable June 2. The inheritance tax appraiser’s report was filed in the estate of Samuel J. Fogle, showing a net value of $17,282.95, and the notice May 31.

The Variety Farmers 4-H club of Washington township met Monday evening at the home of Mike and Sam Rumschlag. The meeting was presided over by Edward Schultz. Stephen Stump and Roger Schnepp led the pledges. The roll call was answered by 16 persons with the biggest word they knew. Alvin Habegger spoke on recreation and Mike Busse spoke on soil conservation. A demonstration was given by Dave Lengerich. Refreshments were served by Mike and Sam Rumschlag. The next meeting will be held May 29 at 8 p. rm at the home of John Wagley. Reporter: Dan Meyer. St. Joe Jills The St. Joe Jills 4-H club of Washington township held a meeting Monday evening in room 6A of the St. Joseph school. Anita Schirack was in charge of the meeting and the pledges were led by Theresa Heimann and Pat Schultz. Sharon Sutton and Ruth Heimann led the group singing. The roll call was answered with a favorite kind of cake by 38 persons. Karen Schirack and Maryann Spangler gave a demonstration on deviled eggs and another on clothing was presented by Gorgann Gase and Eileen Schultz. Cathy Walters gave the health and safety report. At the next meeting, Iheresa Heimann and Jackie Baker will debate on “Which is most important — health or safety?” The recreation period was led by Jackie Baker, who was later assisted by Sharon Sutton, Theresa! GUERECA CAR INTERIOR shows the damage from the driver's side, least damaged. Steering wheel was twisted, front windshield knocked out, and front seat twisted from its position. Mrs. Leandra Guereca's daughter, Mrs. Alice O'Campo, was driving at the time of the accident, and was headed south. The O'Campo vehicle was turning into one of the lanes on the east side of the road, and was hit head-on by the Kramer car.
