BONITA DIETRICH AND _ JAN SCHLICKMAN ARE WED Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dietrich of Wiltshire, Ohio, announce the recent marriage of their daughter. Bonita Louise, to Jan Eugene Schlickman. son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Schlickman, also of Willshire. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Thomas Fowler in the Elizabeth Lee Methodist church of Chickamauga, Ga., August 7. Mrs. Schlickman will be a senior at Wiltshire high school, and her husband, a Willshire high school graduate, is an employe of the International Harvester company at Fort Wayne. They are making their home in Willshire. MISSIONARY CHURCH CIRCLE HAS RECENT PICNIC The Friendship Circle of the Decatur Missionary church held its annual family picnic recently at Lehman park in Berne. CHARLES SCOTT FAMILY HAS REUNION SUNDAY A family gathering of the late Charles Scott family was held last Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Scott, with a pot luck dinner being served at noon. Those attending included Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gem, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Clem and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Clem and son, Mrs. Garald Getty, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Scott. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Scott and family, Mr. and Mrs. Oetus Miller. Jr. and son, Mr. and Mrs. Eari Scott and son, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. James Zink and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Scott and son, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fisher and family, Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Scott and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gerardot. An important business meeting of the Tri Kappa sorority will be held at 7:45 o’clock next Tuesday evening at the Youth and Community Center. Tonight at 6 o’clock, the Women’s Guild of the Zion Evangelical Reformed church will have a carry-in supper at the chutch. The Associate chapter of Tri Kappa will meet at the home of Mrs. W. E. Petrie Tuesday night at 6:30 o’clock. Each member is requested to bring her own table service for the opening meeting. Attempted Burglary Reported At Berne The Adams county sheriff's department reported an attempted burglary early this morning at the Home Dairy Co.; near Berne. The suspect was interrupted in his work when a truck driver reported for duty at the dairy about 12:30 a.m. The driver entered by a side door and the burglar left, and presumably entered, by a rear door. In his haste to escape, he left an assortment of burglar tools. The sheriff and state detectives are continuing their investigation of the attempted burglary.
MR. AND MRS. FRANK ANNEN, former Adams county residents, now of Marion, Ohio, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Tuesday. ..... .. „ He retired nine years ago after 47 years of service with the U. S. post office postal transportation service department. He served 34 years in road service, most of it on the Erie railroad between Marion and Chicago. The celebrating couple have resided in Marion for the past eight years and were joined there for an anniversary celebration, by their children, Robert C. Annen of East Greenbush, New York; Donald F. Annen of Flint, Mich.; and Mrs. Robert Glosser of Marion. Open house was held from 2 until 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at their home.
BMh§> Mr. and Mrs. L. A. O’Donnell of San Francisco, Calif., announce the arrival of a baby boy born Tuesday. Weighing eight pounds, 13 ounces, the infant has been named Thomas Raymond. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kohne of Decatur. Marine Sgt. and Mrs. Walter Mowery, of Reno. Nev., are parents of a six pound, five ounce baby girl, born Aug. 28. The mother was formerly Miss Joan Braun. Grandparents of the infant are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mowery and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Braun. At the Adams county memorial hospital: A seven pound, three and three fourth ounce girl was bom at 8:38 p.m. Tuesday to Adrian and Berneta Liechty Lehman of Berne. Laralle Lee and Joy Ann James Corle of Bluffton, are parents of a six pound, one ounce girl born at 11:52 a.m. today. A boy weighing seven pounds, 1414 ounces was bom at 6:22 o’clock this morning to the Rev. Jack Richard and Mary Louise Erb Bocher of Berne. Two-Auto Collision Reported By Police City police reported a two-(jar collision ; Tuesday afternoon, with one driver being cited for reckless driving. His case will be heard in justice of the peace court Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. r The car driven by Jack Duane £arlett, 20, of 314 Oak street, struck the rear of a car driven by Ivan James Liechty, 29, of route 4, Decatur, causing $125 damage to the Liechty machine and $350 to his own vehicle. ' The accident occurred at the intersection of Jackson and 13th streets at 4:40 p.m. Both cars were driving south on 13th when Liechty stopped, awaiting traffic to clear to make a left turn onto Jackson. Family Os Four Dies In California Fire SOUTH GATE, Calif. <yPl> -A family of four perished today when flames swept their small frame home only three hours after the husband and wife returned from a party celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary. A baby sitter said David Sprinkle, 35, and his wife, Beryl, 27, returned to their home shortly after 1 a. m. after attending the party. Thelma George, 15, said she had been sitting with the Sprinkle children, David Jr., 6, and Star, 5. A neighbor called the fire department when he saw flames and smoke pouring from the Sprinkle home southeast of Los Angeles. Cause of the fire was not. determined, but it was thought a smouldering cigarette may have started it.
