MISS DIANNE LINN IS HOSTESS TO CIRCLE Miss Dianne Linn was hostess Wednesday evening, to members of the Ruth Circle of the Presbyterian church. Assisting Miss Linn were Mrs. Lawrence Linn and Miss Kay Alberson. The meeting was opened with prayer, and plans for world community day, November 7, were discussed. This year the committee is asking for yarn for knitting and two or three yards of material for sewing. During the evening, plans were made for the fair fund pledges. Mrs. Robert Macklin presented the program for the evening, ‘‘skylines in Japan,” and following her talk, refreshments were served by the hostesses. PLEDGE AND PRAYER OPEN MEETING OF SOCIETY .. After members of the Missionary Society of the Church of God had repeated the missionary pledge, Mrs. Floyd Mitchel led the members in prayer to open the meeting which was held recently in the fellowship basement. Mrs. Herman Hammond was the program chairman and she was assisted by Mrs. Kenneth Watkins, Mrs. Ralph Hawkins, and Mrs. Robert Strickler in presenting a skit ‘‘The Islands— Part of the Whole.” In charge of worship was Mrs. Clarence Strickler. A short business meeting was held and the meeting was closed with a prayer led by Mrs. Floyd Morrison. A silent auction was held at the close of the meeting and later, refreshment were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Eugene Melchi and Mrs. Charles Frank, to 23 members and one guest. GENEVA SENIORS TO PRESENT PLAY FRIDAY The Geneva senior class member are in the final week of rehearsals preparing for their class play, “Love Your Neighbor,” to be presented Friday at 8 o’clock in the gym. Cast at the different characters are Jerry Mosser, Rebecca Baker, Rebecca Neuenschwander, Bill Lybarger. Joy Everhart, Rossalind Bauman. Carolyn Macklin, Janice VarEmon, Larry Nevil, Marvin Biery, Charles Hoffman, Judy Mcßarnes, Majorie Gerber, Calvin Morgan, Mike Sprunger, James Toland. Marcella Dailey, Jean Gerber, Margaret Cook, Coni Striker. Bill Tester, Dale Myers, and Jay Bauman. MRS. FRANK GARWOOD CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Garwood. Sr., and family of route 5, entertained with a dinner Sunday. Thirty-four people were present to heip’ Mrs. Frank GarwocSd celebrate her birthday anniversary. Those present for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Garwood, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Garwood and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Clark and family. Miss Mabie Schafer and Ira Schafer, all of Decatur. Attending from Fort Wayne were Mrs. Ivan Garwood, Jr. and family, and from Monroe was Mrs. Eva Brewster. Psi lota Xi sorority members will meet Tuesday at the Youth and Community Center. An officers meeting will be held at 7:30 o’clock, with a business meeting at 8 o’clock and a hard times party and auction to follow. Members of the Emmaus Guild of the Zion Lutheran church, will meet Wednesday at 8 o'clock at the parish hall. William Gernard will lead the topic discussion and members are asked to bring their Bibles. LOCAL LADIES t ATTEND CONFERENCE Mrs. Edith Terrell. Miss Chloe Harkless and Mrs. Faye Michel attended the Great Lakes regional conference of the international society of Christian Endeavour which was held Saturday and Sunday at Winona Lake. Theme for the conference was “For Christ and the Church,” which is also the motto of the Christian Endeavor movement. Mrs. Terrell, senior president. Miss Harkless, senior high counselor, and Mrs. Michel, junior superintendent, are from the Nuttman Avenue United Brethren church of Decatur. More than one hundred people from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin attended the meeting which was led by top leaders of the Christian Endeavor. Dr. Earle Gates of Derby, New York was the speaker at a banquet held Sunday and Elwood Dunn of Ohio served as conference leader. Other scheduled events included inspirational messages, study and fellowship . W.S.C.S. MEMBERS MEET THURSDAY The Mt. Pleasant Women’s Society of Christian Service members held their October meeting Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Brice Sheets. Mrs. Florence Suddorf gave the call to worship and the lesson on “Christian concern for North Americans" was presented by Mrs. Robert Fuhrman. Mrs. Early Fuhrman had charge of the busioness meeting. Eighteen members answered roll call after which a luncheon was served by the hostess. CHRISTIAN SERVICE MEMBERS MEET AT ROY DAVIES HOME At 1:30 o'clock Thursday, Mrs. Roy Davies acted as hostess to 15 members of the Women’s Society of Christian Service of the Pleasant Mills Methodist church. Opening the meeting was Mrs. Austin Merriman and devotions were read by Mrs'. Roy Frank, who used chapter 10 of Luke. Mrs. Merle Riley led the group in prayer. “And Crown Thy Good With Brotherhood” was the lesson topic presented by Mrs. Charles Burkhart,' assisted by Mrs. Frank Meyers. By using Mexico, the Hawaiian Islands, Canada and Alaska. Mrs Merle Rilev presented the world outlook of a home away from home. Mrs. Roy Miller presented a topic using the Methodist Women Week of Prayer booklet. After business was completed roll call was taken by members telling of an early church experience. Mrs. Frank Meyers led the dismissal prayer. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Marvin Hanies and Mrs. Roy Davis to the members and one guest, Friday at 7:30 o'clock, members of -the Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Women's Society of World Service will meet in the church basement. A P. T . A. meeting will be held Thursday at 7:3a o'clock at the school for parents of Northwest school children. Women of the Moose met Thursday evening at the Moose home for their regular lodge meeting. Mrs. Lawrence Jacob and her committee served lunch to those present upon the completion of the lodge meeting. Announcement was made that the next meeting will be held October 23, at which time plans will be made for a trip to Michigan City for the fall invocation, October 26.

MISS EVELYN LUCILLE GETTING, daughter of Mrs. Adelinda Getting and the late Henry Getting of Decatur, is engaged to wed Phillip Alphus Debolt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chalmer H. Debolt, also of Decatur. The ceremony will take place January 30. Miss Getting, is a graduate of Monmouth high school and is employed by the Lincoln National Life Insurance company. Her fiance, e graduate of Decatur high school, is an air technician with the Indiana air national guard.

Quadruplet Girls Born In Detroit All Described As Strong And Healthy DETROIT (UPI) — Quadruplet girls, all born within 14 minutes, were reported doing fine today at the northwest branch of Grace Hospital. The mother, Mrs. Julia Ullman, 33, of suburban Clawson, also was reported in excellent condition. The babies, all of whom weighed 4 pounds or more, and described as strong and healthy, arrived between 7:41 and 7:55 Sunday night. They were delivered by Dr. L. H. Spencer, of Royal Oak, who attended Mrs. Ullman throughout her through X-rays about a month ego. pregnancy and who had discovered the approaching multiple birth Mrs. Ullman remained conscious throughout the delivery. She has two other children, Charles, 2'4. and Louise, 1. The father, Chester H. Ullman, 34, is a carpenter. All the’ infants were placed in an incubator and will remain there until their weight exceeds 5 pounds. Indianapolis Woman Robbed Os Jewelry MONROE, La. (UPI) — An Indianapolis steel firm executive’s wife was' bound and robbed of $17,000 worth of jewelry Sunday by two bandits while she was alone in a motel room. Mrs. W. J. Holliday told authorities she heard a knock on the door and thought it was a bellboy sent to pick up luggage. Two men, about 35 years old, one a blond and the other with black curly hair, entered and threw a sheet over her.
