THK ORPHAN'S IIOMK.

The Annual Mooting of tho Association -KliTilon of OHU*er* Kcpoi t*, Kte. The annual meeting ot the Orphans' Home Association of this county was held Tuesday at the residence ot V. Q. Irwm. The following oflicers were elected lor the ensuing year: President, Joseph Million Vice President, Mrs. J. M. Lane Secretary, O. M. Gregg Treasurer, Mrs. S. S.

McCain Corresponding Secretary, Mrs. Jul.a W. Irwin. Mrs. Jane I liner. Matron of the Home submitted her annual report. The number ofchildren cared for at the Home during the vear has varied at difVerent times from 15 to '25. At present there are 15 children at the Home, all boys but one. Thirteen ot this number are attending school and doing better than they have ever done at school before. There was one death during the vear, that of a baby three months old the first death that has occurred at the Home for several years. Theru iias been but very little sickness during the y?ar

During the year SJ0 have found homes where they will be well taken care of. Ten were returned to the Home as not satisfaction.

giving

The Treasurer's report shows that at the beginning of the vear there was a balance in the treasury ol $307,03. Received from the county during the year, $1,?S0 membership fees and donations received $42.50 making a total ol $2,12!.53. The expenditures for various purposes toot up to $2,105.05, leaving a balance ot $24 48 in the treasury to commence the year with.

The Orphans* Home is a grand institution and is doii a work which without it would be neglected. It is taking infants from the county asylum and from the slums where moral pestilence blights and kills the soul, and cares for them until good homes can be procured, and the little waifs placed where they can be reared up as honorable men and women. The Home is the direct result of the work of a band of Christian workers with the good of suffering and innocent humanity at heart, and by their efforts thecountv was induced to lend aid, reluctantly at first, but now given cheerfully. People all over the county should encourage the work and be liberal in their donations. If the people generally understood more thoroughly ihe aims and objects of the Association there would be a larger balance in the treasury at the end of the present vear than there was at the close of the last.
