A splendid opera company has been gathered together in the membership of the Wales Opera Company which will be seen here next Wednesday night in the new and up to date comedy opera "Athenia," a satire on the '-nited States Senate. Amoug the members of the company we notice the name of Mr. (.'has. A. Bigelow, the talented comedian. He is well known and has many admirers throughout the operatic world. Miss (Jrace Golden has a national reputation as a prima donna and her appearance in a lively sonbrette role will astonish lliose who have heard her instraight parts. As "Tommy" the type-writer, she has made the hit of her life. The company is immensely strong and embraces such weil known artists as Miss Lucille Saunders, Mi-s Kilty Mareel1 us, George liroderick, -Albert McGuckin, Edward Morris and Fred Runtley. A quartette of particularly pretty wives appear in the persons of Misses Mary Marble, Maude Shaw, Clairesse Agnew and Mae Lowry. A great attraction of "Athenia" is the famous child dancer trio consisting of "La Kegaloticita," "La Freeiosa" and "La Uraciosa,'- the little folks who have been so widely noted through the efforts of the Gerry Society to prevent them from appearing in public. These remarkable children will introduce their Fairy Ballet in the second act of "Athenia."
Tri'iu'lierouH Umltiy Mill*.
All is not serene in the Democratic camp as could lie wished. There is blood two inches deep all over the countenance of pale luna. It occurs that .lames Wright has been the Democratic election commissioner in times past and as he has been so faithful and acceptable it was naturally supposed that Chairman Mills would continue him. Mills promised that lie would and kept on promising so up to the hour of the appointment. Then he timed around and appointed .John l!ooe. His object in doing this was that a certain Democratic paper which the wheel horses call "a disreputable upstart sheet," might get to print the lallots, Mr. liooe favoring that while Mr. Wright favored the Ariju-s-Xcwu.
i'he
appointment caused a regular howl of rage and as a result a divy has been effected. The Artjux-Xcwx gets half the printing and the "upstart" the other half. The Review gets netting and says it doesn't want any. The
I rrnix-Xeira was rescued by Clerk Sparks, who insisted on preserving peace and harmony" even when dadly Mills protested.

A POLITICAL MOVE.
Ttie SuKur Slump Brought About By Ill-Ill. emtio Alauagerii to Influence iitt't.
The equality plan of selling sagar to the retailer, which the jobbers composing- the Indiana Association established last April, has been killed by the action of the Chicago jobbers, who were included, in retiring from the agreement. Under its provision the jobbers reaped a certain profit on each pound of three-sixteenths of a cent, which was paid in the form of a rebate b_v the sugar trust. The Indiana, jobbers lament the fate of their cherishcd scheme which changed an article of certain profit to one of certain loss. They say the sugar sales average onethird of the business of the jobbers, and that the losses must be borne by the other two-thirds. It is not believed that there will be any immediate effort to revive the plan just now, but the association expects some time to join with the Illinois jobbers outside of Chicago who retain the plan, and are now. they say, selling at a loss with hope of future gain. A member of the Association at Indianapolis on Saturday said: "The trust failed to support us and sold to anybody. It wanted to break down prices just now in order to bolster up Democratic chances. There is no doubt in the mind of any jobber here that the liavemeyers are in cahoots with the Democratic managers to make a reduction in the price of sugar to last until after the election. There is no limit to the power of the trust to regulate the price, and if the present decline is not due to Democratic pressure on Havemeyer the party leaders are not living to their records for shrewdness. They have, no doubt, threatened the trust with more trouble unless it should yield. The price of raw sugar has shown no such decline as to warrant the prevailing slump to the jobber and retailers, and it can only be explained on the score of party pressure for past and prospective favors."
As To Foot Hall.
Indianapolis Sim: The I'urdue-De-Pauw Thanksgiving foot ball game will not be played in this city. It arises from a conference which the college presidents of the State held some time ago in which foot ball and other athletic sports were exhaustivediscussed, and not, by the way. to the wellfare of foot ball. There has been a growing feeling on the part of some of the college faculties in the State that a little too much stress lias been placed upon foot ball and not enough upon Latin and calculus.
It was decided at the meeting mentioned that, hereafter, foot ball games between college teams shall be played in the towns where the colleges are located. This will throw the l'urdueDePauw game either at Lafayette or Ureencastle, unless the college presidents withdraw the ukase in regard to it. In all probability the game of Thanksgiving day will go to Lafayette. as that is the largest town and thu enthusiasm-of Lafayette citizens is most conducive to handsome gate receipts. The Purdue team, too, has been a leader in this State, which may also have weight in taking the game to that place. -•••AS •V'""-': Football.
On Saturday afternoon tho football elevens of Linn Seawright aud Carl Paul lined up and went in for blood and broken bones. The game was very stubbornly fought and botli sides put up an excellent game, each player playing his part well. The time was 50 minutes and at the end of the first half the score stood -I to 0 in favor of Seawright's men aud at the end of the game it was 8 to 4 in Seawright's favor. The men who made touchdowns on Seawright's side were W. Carroll and W. lirewer and on Paul's side was C. Patterson. Moth sides failed to kick goal. The teams lined up as follows:
