Resolution Indorsed BLOOMINGTON Ind. (AP) — A resolution condemning the ban on electronic news equipment at hearings of the Federal Interstate Commerce Commission was indorsed Saturday at a midwest regional conference of the Society of Professional Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi. More than 100 newsmen, editors and students from four states backed the resolution, originally adopted March 27 by the Indiana Professional Chapter of Sigma Delta Chi in Indianapolis. The resolution stems from denial March 11-17 by the ICC officials of the use of tape recorders and cameras by the electronic media covering public hearings in Indianapolis on possible elimination of 37 per cent of Indiana’s railroad trackage. The resolution urges the ICC to end the prohibition against the electronic gear “used as essential communications tools bynews reporters’’ covering public business.
