Thomas A. Shelton Thomas A. Shelton, 87, died Monday, after an extended illness. Mr. Shelton was retired from Ball State University. He was in the Magician Club, and a veteran of World War II. Mr. Shelton leaves to cherish his memory two brothers, Walter Shelton, (wife: Ruth), Chicago, Illinois, Gene Shelton (wife: Pat), Muncie; one sister, Doris Lewis Hammond; a God-daughter, Lorri MacKins; and a special friend, Ralph Ross, all of Muncie, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by his wife Rosie Shelton, his parents, Jessie G. and Maude E. Shelton; two brothers, Fred Hughes and James Shelton.

Ester Burks Ester Burks, 81, 911 S. Grant Street died February 29, 2000 at Ball Memorial Hospital. He had lived in Muncie for 73 years coming here from Cadiz, KY. Mr. Burks was a member of Bethel A. M. E. Church where he had served as an usher and Trustee. He was a member of Widow Lodge #22. Mr. Burks was retired from G&G Oil. His daughter, Jayne Ann Burks, preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Margaret Burks, Muncie, IN; a son, Ester (Sonny) Burks, Muncie, IN; a brother, Britt Burks, Richmond, IN; three granddaughters, Reva O’Neal, Muncie, IN, Bridget Johnson (Husband: Kerry), Evansville, IN, and Deborah Dunn (Husband: Laurence), Cincinnati, OH; seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Bob Hill Bob Hill, 54, formerly of Muncie, IN, died March 17, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati after an extended illness. Survivors include his two daughters, Ashely and Amber Hill of Cincinnati, his mother, Frances Hill of Hebron, IN, two brothers, William Hill of Cincinnati and David Hill of Hebron, IN, his fiancee’, Carol Alfrey of Anderson, IN, a special friend, Kent Davis of Cincinnati, and several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be conducted at Graceland Memorial Gardens in Cincinnati. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Nicholls Funeral Home in Cincinnati. Memorial Contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.

Julia E. Edwards Julia E. Edwards, 88, died Friday, March 10, 2000 after an extended illness. Mrs. Edwards was past executive president of the Board of Directors for the Muncie Housing Autority, past Board member of the Area Six on Aging. She was also one of the founders of the Gillespie Towers, a senior citizens housing complex. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Household of Ruth #4816. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years where she served on the Mothers Board, Senior Missionary and the Flower Guild. She was a past board member of the Back to Muncie Reunion Organization. She leaves to cherish her memory one sister-in-law, Alberta Johnson; three nieces, Gerthurde E. Spence (husband: Charles), Muncie, Nellie I. Miller (husband: Otis), Greta L. Burton; one cousin, Carl Kizer, Sr. (wife: Vernice); a special*friend, Rosella Thompson, all of Muncie, and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger L. Edwards; parents, Walter and Effie Moore; brother, Walter Moore; and a nephew, Clarence Johnson.

Osie Mae Gurley Osie M. Gurley, 97, died Saturday, February 26, 2000 at Ball Memorial Hospital. She resided at Community Care Center since December, prior to that time she lived at 709 S. Vine St. She was a membfer of the Mt. Zion Church where she belonged to the Usher Board and WWII Mothers. She had worked in several domestic capacities. She is survived by a son, Cordell Cole, Muncie; two grandchildren, Cordell Cole, Jr. (Fiance: Sand Crable) and Cynthia Cole Lacey (Husband: Norris), all of Kokomo, IN; three great- : grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren. \
